One thing that I can count on in my house starting every April is baseball. This year is no exception. Both Cooper and Owen this year are on the same baseball team and Ryan is the coach. This year they are the Blue Jays. Today was the Blue Jays first game...we got smoked. 15 to 4 it was rough! Coach definitely is taking the loss harder then the kids are. Dispite the ass kicking I was so proud of my boys. Owen at just 6 is the youngest player on the team yet he is hanging in just fine with the big kids. He got a hit in the game and actually ran hard which was a major improvement from last years t-ball days. At the end of the game Owen seemed confident and happy with his performance... losing a game and still be able to walk away happy and proud is a great thing at this age. Cooper let the nerves get to him his first up at bat. He struck out :( However he quickly redeemed himself with his next up to bat when he crushed the ball. He also made a very nice play while at 3rd base ... boy that kid can throw! As for coach Ryan I am giving him mad props on a job well done pitching to the kids. I am happy to report that he did not hit one child while trying to pitch to them which was a concern after the last practice they had where he hit three kids. Leaving one with a welt and one being carried home with a bloody nose. Yikes! (oh and the one with the welt... yeah that was Owen) With the first game jitters out of the way and a few changes to the batting line up these boys should be all set for Thursdays game.
On a side note Jackson behaved very nicely at the game... but still nothing has changed from last yr. He still walks around the stands asking people for a snack "sigh" ... and I walked behind him saying Jackson stop that and trying to reassure parents that I really do feed my child. I guess some things will never change!
